Brain+Club探秘前沿科技再出发:从基因魔剪到无人艇的硬核科技探索之旅

4月19日,我校Brain+Club“基因魔剪”主题实验活动圆满落幕。社团成员走进ATLATL创新研发实验室,近距离感受诺奖级科技的独特魅力,完成了一场从理论学习到实践操作的基因编辑技术深度探索之旅。

活动伊始,同学们率先参观这座国际化高端研发平台,对其一流的科研设施与高效协同的研发模式,有了直观且深刻的认识。随后,在专业导师的系统讲解下,大家深入学习被誉为“基因魔剪”的CRISPR基因编辑技术,全面了解其革新性原理,以及在疾病治疗、农业育种等多领域的广阔应用前景,搭建起完整的生命科学知识框架。

  

理论学习夯实基础后,同学们满怀探索热情进入实验室,在专业人员的指导下,规范完成移液枪操作、PCR扩增、凝胶电泳等一系列核心实验。当看到凝胶电泳图谱上呈现出的清晰条带时,大家真切感受到“精准编辑基因”的强大科学力量。“此前只在课本上了解过PCR技术,亲手实操后才明白,每一个实验步骤都需要极致的严谨与专注。” 一位参与活动的同学由衷感慨。此次“基因魔剪”实验,不仅让同学们掌握了专业的生物实验技能,更充分点燃了大家对生命科学领域的探索与研究热情。   

这并非Brain+Club首次带领同学们探秘尖端科技。此前,社团成员已走进上海交通大学闵行校区,开展了一场兼具硬核科技与人文底蕴的特色研学活动。   

在海洋智能系统教育部工程研究中心,同学们近距离观摩了已应用于旅游、教育和海事领域的各类智能无人艇。这些凝聚着顶尖技术的产品,将课本中抽象的人工智能、自动控制等知识,转化为眼前触手可及的现代化智能装备,让大家倍感震撼。在中心刘教授细致入微的讲解下,原本复杂的系统原理与技术核心变得通俗易懂,同学们收获颇丰。

社长李泽玮在活动后表示,Brain+Club始终紧盯科技前沿方向,在校内充分依托现有资源,深耕脑科学、EEG脑波、神经网络与人工智能等领域的研究与探索;在校外积极为同学们搭建对接高端科技的实践平台,带领大家走进各类顶尖研发中心沉浸式学习,助力每一位社员在科技探索中找准自身兴趣方向,不断突破自我、收获成长。  

On April 19, the Brain+ Club of Shanghai Starriver Bilingual School successfully concluded its themed experimental program “Gene Editing: The Molecular Scissors.”  Club members visited the ATLATL Innovation R&D Laboratory, where they experienced firsthand the transformative power of Nobel Prize–level technologies and embarked on an in depth exploration of gene editing—from theoretical learning to hands on practice.

At the beginning of the activity, students toured this internationally oriented, high end research platform, gaining an intuitive and comprehensive understanding of its advanced scientific facilities and its highly collaborative research model. Guided by professional instructors, students then systematically studied CRISPR gene editing technology—widely known as the “genetic scissors.” Through clear explanations, they learned about its revolutionary principles and its broad applications in areas such as disease treatment and agricultural breeding, building a solid and integrated framework of life science knowledge.

    

Following the theoretical sessions, students entered the laboratory with great enthusiasm. Under the guidance of laboratory professionals, they carried out a series of core experimental procedures in a standardized manner, including micropipette operation, PCR amplification, and gel electrophoresis. When clear DNA bands appeared on the electrophoresis results, students were able to truly appreciate the power and precision of modern gene editing technologies. “Previously, I had only learned about PCR techniques from textbooks. After performing the experiment myself, I finally understood how much rigor and concentration every single step requires,” one student reflected. This gene editing experiment not only strengthened students’ professional laboratory skills but also ignited a deeper passion for exploration and research in the field of life sciences.

This was not the first time the Brain+ Club explore cutting edge technology beyond the classroom. Earlier, club members visited the Minhang Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University for a distinctive study tour that combined advanced technology with academic depth.   

At the Engineering Research Center for Ocean Intelligent Systems (Ministry of Education), students closely observed various intelligent unmanned surface vessels that have already been applied in the tourism, education and maritime sectors. These technologically sophisticated devices transformed abstract concepts from textbooks—such as artificial intelligence and automatic control—into tangible and intelligent systems, leaving students deeply impressed. With Professor Liu’s clear and engaging explanations, complex system architectures and core technologies became accessible and easy to understand, helping students understand the underlying technical principles better.    

After the activities, Club President Li Zewei shared that the Brain+ Club remains firmly focused on the frontiers of science and technology. Within the school, the club makes full use of existing resources to advance exploration and research in areas such as brain science, EEG signals, neural networks, and artificial intelligence. Beyond campus, the club actively builds bridges to leading research institutions, guiding students into top tier innovation centers for immersive learning experiences. Through these efforts, Brain+ Club aims to help every member identify their interests, continuously challenge themselves, and grow through hands on scientific exploration.
