On October 8, 2025, Shanghai Starriver Bilingual School’s Stars Club partnered with Ruijin Hospital to host the “Journey of Love” charity event, donating 100 wigs to children with cancer. The Club’s “Haircut Project” offered meaningful support, helping young patients regain confidence while spreading warmth through Ruijin Hospital’s trusted medical platform.
Club president Li Yanpeng described the Stars Club as a “seed of charity” that has flourished over the past decade, guided by the spirit of dedication, friendship, and mutual support. “From academic tutoring to emotional care and our Haircut Project, we believe every act of kindness can light up another’s world,” she said. “By crafting wigs for children with cancer, we hope to help them regain confidence and keep our spark of kindness glowing.”
Dr. Li Wei, Chief Physician of the Department of Pediatrics at Ruijin Hospital, thanked the Stars Club and volunteers, praising the quality and care behind each wig. He shared plans for a new pediatric ward within three years and looked forward to continued collaboration on future charitable efforts.
During the event, volunteers shared heartfelt stories. Ms. Fan Xi cut her 50-centimeter hair grown over three years to inspire young patients, while ten-year-old Cheng Mojun bravely donated hers, hoping to bring smiles to children undergoing chemotherapy.
Tang Wenjia, Director of Ruijin Hospital’s Social Work Department, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Stars Club and donors, moved to see so many young people united by compassion. She promised each wig would be delivered with care, carrying nationwide love, and encouraged patients to feel society’s warmth and, after recovery, share it, inviting the club to future volunteer work.
The Stars Club collected 799 hair bundles in early 2025, creating 115 wigs, with 100 donated at this event and 15 to be distributed later, each accompanied by a heartfelt note and small gift from the donor. Stars Club members Chen Yixin and Liu Siyao said the experience deepened their sense of public service: “Seeing the children’s smiles made every effort worthwhile. We hope to keep spreading this warmth.”
This event marked the start of a long-term Stars Club–Ruijin Hospital partnership. The hospital praised the project’s “delivering love through strands of hair” model, aiming to blend medical excellence with youth philanthropy. Guided by school and youth organizations, the club will expand nationwide, uniting “sparks of kindness” to build a more child-friendly society.
