The 111th Salon — "Prologue"

On the afternoon of October 13, 2024, Angela Tang and Abeni Zhang brought us a unique art salon titled "Prologue." This exhibition represents a fleeting moment, the beginning of a performance, and the starting point of all things.

The exhibition features around 30 exquisite paintings, each showcasing a diverse range of styles and rich textures. The artists' ingenuity is evident in their choice of materials, with the vibrant use of color adding to the artworks' appeal.

What truly captures attention is the creative use of materials, including collage, silk screen printing, woodcut printing, fabrics, Procreate digital paintings, alongside traditional mediums like acrylic and watercolor. Each material uniquely reflects the artist's philosophy, conveying their thoughts and emotions.

Angela Tang’s works revolve around the theme of “Time.” From the establishment of human civilization to the varied roles time plays in people’s lives, her art incorporates elements such as clocks, hands, and gears. Through different media and compositional angles, she portrays how time unveils each narrative. At an individual level, she uses varying tones and styles to express the emotional shifts experienced in resisting the passage of time.

Abeni Zhang’s works focus on “Theatre,” delving into aspects like the structure and evolution of theater, stage design, costumes, and the actors' emotional states during performances. Drawing from her own experiences and the plays she has seen, she merges different artistic styles from various periods, reflecting deeply on her dramatic depictions. The collection includes a theater collage that took a year to complete, as well as an impressive costume design. Each piece showcases her innovative approach and creativity in visual expression.

Through their distinctive creative approaches, these artworks become a prologue to deeper dialogue between the audience and the themes explored, opening the door to new appreciation and reflection on the beauty of the world. The exhibition not only introduces a space full of creativity but also provides a vast platform for art lovers to explore aesthetics and philosophy.
