A Fresh Start in Autumn--The High School Club Fair

??As the summer draws to a tarried close, autumn approaches in the lingering heat. After two weeks of meticulous preparatory work by the participating clubs and ASB, the Club Fair finally began on the afternoon of Thursday, September 19th. This event was the perfect opportunity for clubs to make their exceptionality be known to students and teachers alike, and also find others of common interests to join their crew.

??There were around 100 clubs total that partook in the fair, encompassing practically every field imaginable – from academic subjects and competitions to arts, hobbies, charity, sports, and many more. Each club had a table where they were able to set up their booth and promote themselves; many chose to simply use posters and pamphlets, but some others had rather creative ways. Some academic clubs (such as Dr. Bio and Maker Space) held trivia contests for small prizes, and the Chemystery Club had prepared a fullerene-shaped hat to try on. The board game related clubs (such as Chess Club and Go! Club) started matches live to test the skills of potential members. Sports clubs tried their best to work around the limited space by setting up simple activities: the Badminton Club had a shuttle-bouncing practice, and the Royal Fountain Frisbee Club had brought frisbees for practice throws. Other hobby-based clubs had more immersive experiences planned, such as the Imaging Club providing cameras and the Film Club bringing a gyro controlled stabilizer for students to try out, as well as the AI Club giving a trial of the Apple Vision Pro Headset.

??A new addition in this year's fair was a central performance area, where 12 clubs went onstage to further showcase their specialties. The majority of them were music and dance related clubs: the Musical Club performed a rendition of the song "Not a Lie" from the Korean musical "Fan Letter"; Random Play brought a piece from a character PV of "Honkai: Star Rail". The non-artistic clubs also brought remarkable performances: the Math Club led students into the realms of number theory and game theory with short games, and the Dexterity Sports Club demonstrated their seemingly magical abilities with a yo-yo routine. Many students gathered around the stage to watch each club and gave a big round of applause for these performances.

??After 90 minutes packed full of action, the Club Fair came to a close with the ringing of the school bell. As everyone headed back, discussion could still be heard on what clubs to pick, how fun the experience was, and how they wanted the club to be in the future. Meanwhile, the leaders of the club were carrying out the final finishing touches and planning for the future activities. In a week or two, the clubs will be officially registered and begin their regular activities. We hope that each club will be able to successfully start their journey and that all members can find what they wished to seek.
