Under the focus of the blinding lights, each candidate of the 2023 SSC positions stand to give innovative, inspiring, and persuasive speeches. Nearly 40 candidates run for numerous positions that will alter the course of different departments, lead the creation of diverse activities, and make the SSC better than ever before. From canvassing votes with posters all over the corridors to persuading people with boxes of colorful chocolates, they are ardently devoted to their mutual cause: to make revolutionary changes to the student council of Starriver.

The diverse array of candidates reflects the multifaceted nature of the student council, showcasing the importance of different departments that contribute to the overall efficiency of the student body. The Study Skills department, responsible for creating review materials and presentations, aims to enhance the academic experience for all students. The Regulation department, the guardian of rules and organizer of activities, seeks to create a balanced and vibrant school environment. The Publicity department, acting as the face of in-school activities, strives to keep the student body engaged and informed. The Sports department, responsible for organizing the sport carnival, emphasizes the significance of physical well-being. The Art department, a fusion of art, studies, and music, aims to celebrate creativity and cultural diversity. The Secretaries, tasked with managing departments and maintaining balance, represent the backbone of the SSC. Finally, the President group, the brains behind the operation, envisions a cohesive and efficient student council that can drive positive change.

All these departments are in need of changes for the better. All candidates aim for their position to be able to bring forth that very change. All have great expectations and hopes for the future. All, are powerful innovators.

As the last speech ends in reverberating applause, the voting procedure begins. In the atmosphere of utmost happiness and excitement, ballots are inserted into the poll box solemnly. There is a sense of hope and optimism that transcends the competition—a belief that, no matter the outcome, the student council will continue to be a force for innovation and improvement in the SSBS community.
