G5-G8 Track and Field Games in Spring

G5-6

On May 6th, all Grade 5 and Grade 6 students gathered on the sports field, filled with cheerful laughter and lively chatter. Every class had made thorough preparations for Sports Day, and their distinctive class slogans were full of energy and pride.

Class 5-1 presented a vibrant dance that showcased artistic charm. Both Class 5-2 and Class 5-6 staged wonderful Zootopia-themed dance performances. These song and dance acts brought confidence and joy to everyone present. Class 5-4 sang a song about China while dancing and waving red flags. The Grade 6 students delivered cool street dance shows, and one boy even gave an impressive sword dance performance. As soon as the sports competitions officially started, the whole field was filled with excitement and enthusiasm.

The first event was the 60-meter run. We could see the racers were ready to fight for first place. "Honk!" The runners shot like arrows across the field. 30 meters left, 10 meters… whoosh! A girl crossed the finish line first! The second-place runner looked frustrated, wondering why he hadn’t won. One group, then the next, soon all the races were over. Some runners finished and moved on to the next competition.

Next came the high jump and long jump. Students ran like the wnd toward the sandpit and landed with a boom! Many jumped great distances, including one student who leaped 2.09 meters. The high jump was much harder, though. Nearly five students tried three times but couldn’t clear the bar. At last, the height was raised to 135 cm. One girl ran quickly, jumped, and made it over! Everyone cheered loudly.

Then came the 200-meter and 400-meter races. The horn blared, and the runners sprinted off. By the 400-meter mark, many were struggling with fatigue, feeling out of strength. But when they remembered they were racing for their class’s honor, their ran even faster. When they finished, they were panting and sweating, but they barely felt tired at all.

Finally, it was the relay race, a true test of teamwork. During the competition, 10 boys and 10 girls from each class stood at two sides of the sports field and passed the baton to each other until the last one was finished. When the horn beeped, the first runner shot off like a leopard. As they got close to the next runner, the baton was passed smoothly and not a single baton was dropped during the whole game!

What an exciting sports day! I hope we can have more sports events just like this one soon!

G7-8

Under the bright spring sky and waving flags, the Spring Field Sports Meet of Shanghai Starriver Bilingual School opened on May 7, 2026, greeted with enthusiasm by all faculty and students. The event featured a variety of competitions, including sprints, middle-distance running, high jump, long jump, and shot put, with the goal of showcasing student athleticism and fostering a spirit of perseverance.

To the rhythm of the athletes' marching, each class entered the arena in turn. The students marched in neat formation and chanted powerful slogans. Some classes carried motivational banners while others put on creative dance performances, revealing their unique class identities and youthful energy. In the opening address, the athletes were encouraged to “display both their character and skill.” Following speeches by athlete representatives and officials, the games officially began.

On the track, the 60-meter and 200-meter races highlighted explosive speed and cornering technique, while the 400 meters tested the balance between speed and endurance. The relay events brought the competition to a thrilling climax with seamless baton exchanges and mutual trust. Meanwhile, 800 meters and 1,000 meters demanded tactical positioning and sheer willpower.

In the field events, the high and long jump showcased explosive strength and precise body control. High jumpers challenged ever rising bars with fluid motions, while long jumpers sprinted down the runway, launched into the air, and tucked their legs to maximize distance. The shot put combined strength and technique as athletes coordinated leg drive, core engagement, and arm swing to send the shot as far as possible.

After a full day of fierce competition, the sports meet came to a close in the evening glow. The event not only measured the students’ physical fitness and athletic abilities but also strengthened class bonds. Though every track has an endpoint, the pursuit of excellence never ends—until next spring, when we once again answer the call of youth and hard work.
