G5-G6 New Year Show
On December 22, 2025, the annual SSBS New Year Show was officially launched in the school auditorium. Students presented a wide range of excellent performances, sending their best wishes to everyone and jointly welcoming the arrival of the new year, 2026.
The opening warm-up performance was brought by the SSBS Junior Choir. Their renditions of Flying to the Moon and How Far I’ll Go seemed to remind everyone to keep a sense of aspiration and longing for the year ahead. This was followed by the hosts of this year’s New Year Show—Ella from Class 5-3, Wayne from Class 5-8, Sherry from Class 6-4, and Murphy from Class 6-6—who guided the audience into a feast of art and audiovisual delight.
Performances by the SSBS String Orchestra, featuring excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Johann Strauss II’s Thunder and Lightning Polka, were the first to ignite the enthusiasm of the audience. Next, Ron from Class 5-5, Ponyo from Class 6-3, and Bell from Class 6-1 performed on the piano and cello, presenting works including Beethoven’s Scherzo, Broadway, and Maple Leaf Rag, allowing the audience to relive the charm of classic pieces.
The songs Light Up the Future and My Paper Airplane, performed by Christoff from Class 6-3, Cassandro from Class 6-6, and Lemon from Class 5-6, encouraged students to pursue their dreams and hopes. Meanwhile, Leonardo from Class 6-2, Kenneth from Class 6-1, and Tommy from Class 6-4 showcased the diversity and unity of music through performances on three distinct instruments—electric bass, violin, and piano.Emily from Class 5-8 delivered a vivid and expressive dance, The Medicine-Pounding Fairy, which vividly evoked the scene of the Jade Rabbit pounding medicine in the Moon Palace. The English song Think of Me performed by Claire from Class 5-5 and the piano piece Valse Etude performed by Henry from Class 5-1 offered the audience contrasting experiences of modern and classical music.
Aiden and Ryan from Class 5-4 impressed the audience with an innovative piano-and-violin medley, blending musical elegance with passion. Mia from Class 5-5 expressed her hopes for the future through the song Tomorrow.
A string ensemble featuring Amy from Class 6-1, Charlotte and Lumia from Class 5-8, Grace and Joanna from Class 5-3, Angela from Class 5-5, and Emma from Class 5-7 presented the St. Paul’s Suite: Overture, offering the audience a graceful and refined musical poem. Finally, accompanied by Charlotte from Class 5-1, Zoe from Class 4-3, Mia from Class 4-7, and Yiyi from Class 4-4, Stacy from Class 5-8 performed the song Diamonds. The performance seemed to convey a message to the audience: like diamonds, one shines most brilliantly after being shaped and polished through challenges.
As the New Year Show came to a close, the brand-new year of 2026 drew near. In the year ahead, may every SSBS student stay positive and full of energy as they pursue their dreams.
