The First General Meeting of the SSBS TV Station for the 2025 Academic Year Was Successfully Held

At 4 o’clock in the afternoon of the 28th of September, the advisory teachers of the High School TV Station and members of its student body gathered in the auditorium for this semester’s first assembly, a welcoming of students who have newly entered this great family.

After a month of grueling effort, including putting up posters, in-class presentations, as well as a series of interviews since the start of the semester, a group of 26 outstanding students have successfully been selected to become the new generation of our high school’s TV Station.

First and foremost, the station’s head advisory teacher Mr. Chen began the assembly with a warm welcome to all participants, and preceded to explain to the tenth-grade newcomers the structure, workflow, and reward system of the station. He then went on to outline key information and requirements for all four of the station’s departments, including photography and videography, post-production editing, news writing, and hosting. He placed great emphasis on the timeliness of the news while at the same time encouraging everyone to work together collaboratively.

Next, the heads of department from eleventh grade were welcomed to share their experiences and advice. Claire, Elan, and Jerry each provided the audience with a quick welcome and some tips on the work they shall receive, as well as reminding them to never undermine their best professional abilities.

Soon to follow are two personal and in-depth presentations made by the two heads of station. First up is Kenneth, who begins by expressing his gratitude for the technical resources provided for members by the station, allowing everyone a new medium for manufacturing creativity. Indeed, there is no doubt that the station gives its best to aid all of its members in recording the value they discover.

Our second speaker, Sirui, focused on the subject of “the dissemination of news and the recording of daily life.” He noted the imperativeness of the work done by the department of news writing, but also warns against an overuse of AI as it leads to the erasure of the more valuable minor details recorded by the human eye. He emphasizes the importance of observation and active pensiveness, conveying his message with many of his own experiences.

The assembly ended in thumbs-ups and wide grins, an instant recorded in a group photo by the end, or rather, a family picture. As the new generation is welcomed and the old generation gives their advice, it is with certainty that the high school TV station will continue to forge ahead, faithfully recording the details of campus life and creating extraordinary works.
